TQS III
Element B
Teacher Quality Standard III: Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction and create an environment that facilitates learning for their students.
Element B: Teachers use formal and informal methods to assess student learning, provide feedback, and use results to inform planning and instruction
Evidence
The first classes on Monday and Tuesday, students had a chance to develop a narrative correlating with their vignettes by participating in a creative writing session. This purpose of this lesson is to allow students to further identify the storyline behind their vignette, tapping into their creative mindset. I provided ideas for them to ponder. I gave examples of different creative writing styles that other artists have used: poems to express feelings they were trying to evoke; others wrote down key words and phrases that prompted them to think about what they wanted to convey to the audience. Some artists wrote a story about their hopes and dreams. My goal by presenting these examples was to open their minds to their untapped potential.
Through this creative writing process, as well as their artwork, I was able to assess the students’ work formally and informally by giving clear instructions for their learning process to blossom. By facilitating guided tasks for the students to complete, my instruction directly aligns with TQS III Element B ensuring student success in correlating their writing with their vignette.
