I am an artist and teacher who creates drawings, paintings, ceramics, and sculptures. Born in Nebraska, I currently reside in Colorado. Thanks to my many travels around the globe, I have been exposed to various cultures and have acquired a broad range of techniques to apply to my art and teaching practice.

While studying at Arapahoe Community College, I achieved the Best of Painting Award for my work “Carsulae Countryside.” I also had a solo exhibition in the Jantzen Gallery. After receiving my associate degree, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Metropolitan State University of Denver in Art Education with an emphasis in ceramics and painting. Throughout college, I worked in galleries and art studios supporting fellow artists while refining my own skills.

I continue to produce art while teaching high school. I strive to inspire students to relish the art of painting and motivate them to create new and innovative works that stand out.

My Teaching Philosophy

Art reflects who we are. It is an expression of ourselves, and by observing, evaluating, and creating art, we have a better understanding of life. To achieve this, as an educator, I strive to provide an open, safe classroom environment encouraging inclusion, diversity, and above all, appreciation of the world we live in. Every art course is unique as students bring their own perspectives into the classroom which can be fashioned into a physical representation of themselves and how they see the world. Art classes exist to allow students the opportunity to explore their own creativity and make them more culturally aware. Whatever field students pursue, art classes are important for the growth and development of students becoming well-rounded individuals. My goal is to inspire students to embrace their tenacity, be confident in their artwork, and find their passion in life, just as I have.
